About My-Lien Acuzar

My-Lien holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Master of Professional Psychology registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She is a registered General Psychologist and an independent private practitioner who has had many years of clinical and early intervention experience within early childhood, education, and non-government sectors.
My-Lien has a warm, compassionate, and strength-based approach to therapy and works collaboratively with parents/carers and children to strengthen and repair their familial relations, improve communication, routines and behaviours, and difficulties related to developmental delays, and life transitions.​​
My-Lien's Clinical Experience
My-Lien has worked extensively in the area of child protection, in out of home care, and within the community helping neurodiverse children and young people who have been exposed to or have experienced trauma, abuse, or compromised beginnings. She provides evidence-based therapy support and intervention to help improve their social, emotional, and developmental wellbeing and participation at childcare/school and in the community. This has included supporting their families, foster/kinship carer, residential care staff, teachers, and other professionals to understand and positively support the growth of a secure, trauma informed network around the young person.
My-Lien specialises in the use of a wide variety of psychological intervention approaches including, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, Narrative Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy to gently challenge and support the formation of a stronger attachment relationships to help all kinds of families, from all kinds of backgrounds. She is also a certified Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator.​​

Dyadic/Family-Based Therapy/Intervention
Dyadic/Family-Based therapy and intervention involves the parent/carer and child/adult child working together in session to resolve issues impacting their family. This includes repairing relationships, improving communication, strengthening trust and relations, deal with family conflict, and create better functioning home and family system.

Circle of Security™ is a parenting course based on decades of attachment research about how to build a strong relationship with your child. Unlike many behavioural perspectives, Circle of Security™ offers relationship tools and a new way of understanding your child’s needs.

During this parenting course, you will start to look beyond your children’s behaviour and identify and respond to their emotional needs. Circle of Security™ parenting helps you learn how to respond to your child’s needs in a way that enhances your connection with them which makes children feel secure.

My-Lien has been trained in the delivery of the Circle of Security™. She has spent many years dealing with the difficulties parents/carers face. All these and more are discussed in this course.

The programs are kept small to help ensure a relaxed and interactive environment. Refreshments are supplied.

Referrals & Fees
Self Referral/Professional Referrals
You do not require a referral to see a Psychologist, you can self refer and pay for sessions privately. Alternatively, most private health funds may provide some rebate for psychology sessions. Please check with your private health fund prior to booking a consultation. Professionals are also welcome to refer people in the community.

You may wish to speak to your GP who can assess your suitability for a mental health care plan under Medicare better access.

Fees
$220 1-hour session
Cancellation of appointments requires 24-hour notice. Without 24-hour notice a fee of $80 will be incurred.
